I am sure VUD, KN,Native, Emerson, inthemiddle see that this stimulous is truly working. Liberals, govt can’t create a strong economy. YOu can go back to everyone of your sources to try to combat, but the truth is in the pudding. At least Bush had 7/8s of his two terms as a strong economy. Barak bites the big one.
By Kalispell Native on 09-03-10
Yeah hammer: It was that last 1/8 (of failed G No P policies and deficits created by lying the US into Iraq) that Obama inherited. And just who did Bush inherit a healthy economy from? Clinton the Democrat.
Your attempted revisionist history fails.

Alas, Hammer’s right. Anything that strengthens the conservatives in November means any chance of economic help from Washington will not happen.
The conservatives seem to have only one idea: Cut already low taxes even further…and add the difference to the defecit.
Actually, I wouldn’t doubt if those Bush tax cuts do get extended for a year or two merely as a political ploy. ( Mooses’ “throwing money around” )..it really won’t help the economy all that much though.

Speaking of unemployment, here are two more important points:
- U6 figures went up incrementally to 16.7 percent:
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t15.htm
- Student loans now outpace credit card debt (from June 2010):
http://www.fastweb.com/financial-aid/articles/2589-total-college-debt-now-exceeds-total-credit-card-debt
So the phrase “a college education is the best investment you can make” is now becoming obsolete. What good is a degree if the jobs are not there when they graduate? On top of that, they have credit card debt as well. From the last article:
“According to a 2009 survey by Sallie Mae, college students graduate with an average of $4,100 in credit card debt on top of student loans.”
All I can say is, I do feel for recent college grads who can’t find work.

If you think the economy is bad now - just wait until 2011.

Apparently losing sight of the jobs issue has Dems running scared. In fact they are taking off their uniforms like Saddam’s Red Guard and running away: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/09/05/ftn/main6837589.shtml

CBS Congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes said the Democrats are distancing themselves from President Obama.
“Not only are they running away from President Obama, they’re running away from being Democrats in some cases. In some races you actually see the Democratic candidates not really mentioning that they’re a Democrat in their campaign ads,” Cordes said.
Smith asked his guests to try to identify the source of the discontent: “From your experience on the Hill, have you heard any Democrats in private conversations say, ‘You know what? We went down the wrong road. We went after health care. We went after so many other things on the Obama agenda as opposed to, in the end of the day, it’s all about creating jobs?’”
“Not only have we heard that, but we’ve been hearing it for months,” said Cordes. “We heard it during the health care debate that dragged on for a year when the economy was so bad; they focused on health care and they focused on financial regulation.

Here’s the “lost vision” moose is talking about…from Krugman (a Nobel medal holder too.)

Moose, worse yet is this analysis by one of the Left’s Borg talking points site: http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/69512

Obama’s pitiful $30 billion (or is it $50 billion?) offered as infrastructure spending is a ridiculous move if it is meant to be evidence that he is attempting to do anything to stimulate the economy. Such spending would need to be higher by at least a factor of ten before it begins to even be worth putting into a Krugman-style analysis for its possible effect on reducing unemployment. Recall that in the previous analysis, Krugman worked from the assumption that it takes $300 billion of GDP growth in a year to reduce unemployment by 1%. If this “plan” is the best that the Obama economic team of geniuses can produce, Democrats don’t need to bother showing up for the 2010 or 2012 elections.

moose probably agrees…
The only time liberals aren’t spending too much is when they’re not spending enough.

YOu can thank Ronald Reagan for the most impact on a strong economy that lasted through Clinton’s term. Clinton by the way had a majority Republican Congress and he was directed by common sense. NOw you see Barak with a majority of Dems in DC and they can’t start a lawn mower

KN keep backing Barak up. YOu make blogging easy.
