You say 17 people died from running into another person “or” into a tree. You then craft an argument based on this premise.
1st - What I want to know is how many of those deaths actually came from running into people and how many into trees. Was it 16 deaths by trees and 1 by person to person contact? An even split? Vice Versa? Be more clear in use of facts and don’t try to manipulate statistics.
2nd - Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems that you’re advocating that the forest service should allow the privatization of government owned lands, which will then allow ski area expansion and, therefore, less crowded slopes.
I’m not sure that allowing public lands with public accountability fall into the hands of rich fat cats who will charge $90 dollar lift tickets and make uber exclusive resorts for their rich friends is necessarily a solution either.
It’s like saying oh we need more oil, so let’s open up the Arctic Wildlife Refuge....
Perhaps the solution is better enforcement of on-slope etiquette or more dedicated awareness training for novices.
I’m no fan of crowded slopes either, but I think you need to rethink your argument.
