I’m curious about those who voted “Yes” to the poll question.
How many of you think that the Muslims who got their panties in a bunch over this “Quran burning” DIDN’T hate America and Americans BEFORE this Pastor said he was going to burn it..?
If ONE of you thinks that….......you’re stupid.

9/12/10 is Burn a Confederate Flag Day. Sounds fun!
In the name of tolerance and all that stuff.

Well JCW, stereotyping is facilitated by actions such as this.
Perhaps what you are suggesting is sometimes true, but certainly not in every instance, correct?
Why fuel the fire? Why make it harder to contain, why create more blowback? Is your religion more right than theirs?
Do explain your vote…

I don’t agree with it, but I say this - this is an exercise of First Amendment rights - just like radical Latinos descrating/burning the American flag or radical Muslims burning the Bible.
I may not like it, but I support the church group’s right to burn the Qu’ran as an exercise in freedom of expression. All this amounts to is yet another distraction by the alphabet media to keep people’s minds off of more important issues, like the economy.
It certainly has stirred up the rest of the world.

What really is wrong here is that fact that a so called Christian group would be doing this. God didn’t tell us to hate our neighbors. This is simple hate to me. Instead of a book burning they should be doing an outreach to Muslims to help them understand why the Quran is not God’s word.

Maybe they should burn an effigy of Osama bin Laden - but I don’t think it would have the same impact.

I do believe that essentially this issue is much ado about very little. I say that because the Florida pastor is the head of a tiny church with fifty congregants according to news reports. The media has allowed the proposed doings of an extremely misguided nobody to be top news. The POTUS has seen fit to implore the pastor to cease and desist and then calls his plan to burn the Koran a “stunt”; a comment hardly likely to make the pastor re-think his plans. There is ‘good’ in this whole brouhaha. It has once again exposed Islam for the violent, repressive, and psychopathic religion that it is. Threats of murdering Americans everywhere, burning down embassies , and calling for other acts of violence is the typical response to things Muslims don’t like. So-called moderate American leaders and the media like to try to convince us that only radical and extremist Muslims call for and believe in violent retribution for perceived insults to Mohamed and his writings. The fact is Islamic violence is rooted in sharia law. The Koran is not a collection of fairy tales with happy endings. I have experienced Middle East culture and it is not very friendly to foreigners. Tribal and religious violence are always on the cusp of breaking out. The media and our intrepid leaders continually try to convince us that Islam is a religion of peace and that if we love them and allow them to destroy Israel ( at ‘tribe’ and religion they all hate), they will love us in return. That concept is nothing more than political correctness carrying with it the dilution of western influence in the world and the strengthening of Islamic influence. Following foolish thought of that type we are slowly but surely succumbing to being treated as infidels and all that treatment entails.

@ Westside2,
The point is that the MEDIA is feeding this fire. The Muslims who are shown in the media as being “upset” by this “Quran burning” ALREADY hate America. They ALREADY hate Americans.
Our Constitution allows for the freedom of religion(s). I don’t, and would NEVER agree that it is a good idea to BURN anything, whether it be the Quran, the Bible, the Dead Sea Scrolls…....whatever, BUT our Constitution ALLOWS for this in it’s very wording.
My point is that this Pastor’s actions ARE NOT fueling any fire that wasn’t already there in the first place. The only one “fueling the fire” is the MEDIA.
No coverage…........no uproar.
You see coverage of Muslims BURNING THE AMERICAN FLAG on TV all the time. Do we walk through our streets downtown Missoula or Kalispell and shoot the first person we think is Muslim..? No. Do you hear of ANYONE in America setting off a suicide bomb at Mosque’s..? NO. Shooting into crowds of people at the Mall of America….? NO.
Is this idiot Pastor’s actions going to HELP Muslim/Christian relations…....? Heck NO. I think he’s an idiot. His point of view and explanation of why he’s doing it is STUPID. But this is America and he is given the right to voice his opinion whether we like it or not. The hippies burned American flags all over this country in the 60’s & 70’s. They also were allowed to do this because of their rights bestowed them by the Constitution.
Would you or I do that because we do or don’t like what the government does today..?
No. We wouldn’t.
