Is any one else tired of hearing about wolves.  I don’t hate wolves but I don’t obsess over them either.  The ESA has worked for wolves.  Why cant we move on to bigger issues in management.  Can someone explain why we argue about wolves when we could be using resources and money for other species that are in greater need?  I guess montana’s amphibians aren’t cute enough for most “green” folks.

These wolves should have never been reintroduced and should be eradicated immediately before it gets out of hand.  We need to bring the bounty back.

Before we start eradicating anything, especially wolves, please read ‘The Loop’ by Nicholas Evans.  The only thing needing eradication is ignorance.  But then what would we do with all the folks no longer blissful ?

I suggest readers check out my comments on this subject written in response to the original article about the “wolves being eliminated in the flathead valley”: dated 12/6,my comments are on 12/7 and updated 12/22 from the flathead beacon,. Comments such as those which pander that we have bigger issues come not from a proactive mindset but from ignorance and greed which far from what our forefathers had in mind when they pressed forward to protect the beauty and wildlife for future generations.

Sorry, I agree with Jimmy…Try as any of you may, you’ll never convince me or any other serious sportsman hunter that there’s any good or need for having wolves reintroduced.  They were eradicated in the first place for a reason…they did not fit in a settled community or region, and we are still a settled community.  Wolves will never live side by side with livestock.  They are a nuisance and a menace.  The only ignorance shown has been the reintroduction of an apex predator that is now beginning to destroy decades of hard work to bring deer and elk herds up from the near extinction levels of the early 1900s.

Come on now, do the math.  It does not take a genius to come up with a good idea of how many deer and elk it will take to feed Montana’s dearly hated 500 wolves.  Those who know will agree the death toll for the coming year will be in the neghborhood of 30,000 deer and 5,000+ elk.  And with a 1/3 pack increase from year to year, we’ll be talking 2,100+ wolves in this state within five years.  Can our deer and elk populations afford to sacrifice 100,000 plus deer and 20,000 plus elk to feed the mangy wild mongrels?

Wolves are anything but the cute, cuddly little fur balls depicted in Walt Disney films.  They’re vicious, meat eating predators that will kill a calf-carrying cow elk just for the sake of enjoying an afternoon meal…then take down another one in the morning for breakfast.  Many times wolves have been observed killing deer, elk or moose just for the shear pleasure of killing.  It’s what they do.

If the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service cannot stop twiddling its thumbs and do something to put more control on wolf numbers, sportsmen who are sick and tired of the wolf carnage of wildlife will begin to give them a hand…whether they want it or not.  Some already are, dead wolves are beginning to show up more and more frequently.  And the trend is sure to escalate the longer the problem persists.

If it’s war the wolf lovers want, it’s war they’re gonna get.  Today’s sportsmen, who have footed the bill for conservation efforts to build healthy deer, elk and moose herds are not going to simply run up the white flag and surrender.  We’re gonna fight…before Montana’s deer and elk herds are in the shambles they’re in next door in Idaho…thanks to an out of control wolf population.
