Poor Jimbo…as with others you can’t think of anything intelligent to say so you have to resort to inuendos and sarcasms..typical of hunters and trappers! “Whom pays for what”? Maybe you
should look at the audit and see where the money really goes! Get educated and get real!

Clarity, I see most of the dead deer on the roads during the summer months, when there is nohunting season. Where do you get this stuff in your head. Serious question. Do you ever
really go in the woods? I have honestly never seen anyone so detached from the realities of the
natural world as you. I think, from your posts you have a good heart, but you are just so
incredibly clueless to how things happen, whom pays for what, habits of animals, ecology, the
politics of public land, etc, etc. There is no possible way you actually set foot outside your
door. I kind of feel sorry for you. I want to take you hiking or something, even take you on a
hunt.

wildlife would have FEW LESS PLACES to call home. With so many people inhabiting this planet each day….wildlife needs a place to call home, and the sportsman
provide
that with taxes paid…not the free loading tree huggers.

From what I have read on line, the man had taken pics of the bear, and also pepper sprayed the bear. Seeing that those signs of what happened….I have doubts about how things happened?? I
do not understand why the need to track the bear down….like one other e-mailer said….its the
Bob an sure not overrun with tourists.
On one Elk hunting trip in the Bob….a Mule Deer was harvested & hanging on the game pole,
high up…a Black Bear came in a night….the camp cook’s dog began barking, the cook took her
357 pistol & with a flashlight….got off a shot, missed….the gun did not….kickback caused the 357
to hit the lady cook in the forehead….nice gash & a good laugh for all.
Also, for those that don’t like people hunting anything….if not for the Federal Tax on ammo, fishing
gear, guns etc….wildlife would have FEW LESS PLACES to call home. With so many people
inhabiting this planet each day….wildlife needs a place to call home, and the sportsman provide
that with taxes paid…not the free loading tree huggers.
And the deer dead along the roadways….it happens that deer get used to traffic & city
homes….and lose their fear of human environment & get an easy meal of shrubs & such….and
then become road kill.

Mtwatch - I disagree with you on the last post. Wouldn’t wish harm on anyone. EVER. It’s tragicwhat has happened to the victim, who is someone’s son or brother or father, and I hope he heals
and makes a full recovery. The idea of killing to fix a ‘problem’ is a global human failing that
leads to untold suffering, and when animals are killed with little regard for their
suffering/life there is a lowering of the value placed on life in general. We need a different,
more compassionate mindset.

GOOD JOB CLARITY and to the rest of you…be sure and get real close to the bear so you have agood excuse when it mauls you so you can shoot it and put its skin on the floor of your hunting
lodge and can sit around with your cronies, drink your beer and tell your tales of bravery!!!

I wish there was a ‘Human Attack Response Team’ to help protect animals from the brutalslaughter at this time of year. One bear manages to stand it’s ground for a few minutes, and
makes news headlines before being killed. The victim was taking photos of the bear before it
attacked. The only prior experience that bear might have had with humans is with hunters. They
are smart and remember. Who knows what it thought when it saw a human hanging around and
pointing things at it… “FWP sent a Wildlife Human Attack Response Team by helicopter to the
area before noon Friday, where they quickly located and killed the bear. The team was aided by a
photo the victim took of the bear just before the attack. The bear was found just 30 yards from
where the attack took place and had pepper spray on its face and had blood on its claws.“We have
a lot of hunters in the woods so there’s a lot of opportunity for interaction between hunters
and hikers and bears,” Satterfield explained.”

I’m sorry, didn’t realize there were eye-witness reports. Why is it you folks didn’t help thispoor guy in his tent? Amazing you were in that area of the Bob Marshall wilderness at the same
time. What? You weren’t? Have you spoken to him then? No? I see…You’re right though, there are
a lot more dead deer on our roads at this time of year because they get spooked by hunters. Deer
that survive hunters for a season are more secretive and stay away from people. They are harder
for hunters to find, the rest are often young ones and easy pickin’s until they they learn later
on in the hunting season. However, unlike some predator species, they are gentle-natured and
forget. Hunters like to talk real big but like to come home with their bag. This means they like
easy prey especially as a lot of hunters like to hunt from the road. Some of them even hunt from
their cars. It’s another reason why hunters hate mountain lions and wolves, because wolves/lions
naturally cause deer and elk to be more secretive year-round. Result, more hunters complaining
into their beer mugs that the world is coming to and end because they didn’t kill an elk and
nail it’s head on their garage wall this year, and FWP quaking in their boots about lost
revenue. As a species, we’ve come a long way from hunting to survive and turned it into
something ghastly. Put together with poachers and the picture is seriously ugly. In my opinion,
it’s shameful.

but here’s the problem…when we go into those woods to kill the natives(animals)...we don’t get
shot (maybe we should give them guns and traps so they can fight back..they have claws but
thats a sure death warrant..with or without touching a human!).. But let a “native” respond in
kind and they DO get shot! And as to your remark on “all the deer getting smacked by
cars”...gee maybe our “MTFWP Management Practices” aren’t workin so good huh? Nobody
is “humanizing” these animals…humans are the lowest form of life in the world and some of us
know it…we admit it and in so doing we try to educate the rest. Sadly however, the mentality
has to be there in order to be educated, which is usally not the case!

Again, another “clear” sense of reasoning. This bear didn’t have to “defend” itself fromanything. It jumped on a tent to eat what was inside, whether it be a human or human food.
Second, we as humans have every right to be in the woods as the animals. Should we kick all you
fur-worshippers out of the woods just because you aren’t hunting? You run the risk of getting
eaten too. And third, a lineage of naive and fearful bears? Really? How is that working for
all the deer that keep getting smacked by cars? They aren’t picking up on the fact their
relatives are dying by the truckloads on the highways. Again, stop humanizing these creatures.
It just shows how detached you really are from the natural world.

So far, there’s no indication of whether the bear was injured or healthy, or had cubs. Perhapsthat bear had previously encountered hunters. As they are intelligent animals they learn and
teach their young. The sad aspect of this is then humans are then put in a position of
‘taking-out’ the black bears that decide to defend themselves against humans, or rarely,
predate. This maintains a lineage of naive and fearful bears.

BUT THEY DID KILL IT! Certainly can’t have any wild animals doing what they would normally dowhen threatened
by another human in their territory…I would bet the bear came upon the tent and was surprised
that anything
alive was even in it…so ya it did the natural thing and defended itself…but of course…it
was a rogue and had
