Backlash Against Red-Light Cameras Grows

Last April, Montana lawmakers overwhelmingly banned red-light cameras. At the time, Billings and Bozeman already had plans in place to install the technology used to ticket drivers caught running red lights, but they were stymied when House Bill 531 passed. Apparently, backlash is growing against the cameras’ use in communities across the country. From USA Today:

Maine, Mississippi and Montana banned red light cameras last year, joining at least four other states, Nevada, New Hampshire, West Virginia and Wisconsin, says Anne Teigen, a transportation specialist at the National Conference of State Legislatures. State senators in Missouri and Tennessee are sponsoring legislation that would limit cameras.
