8:29 a.m. Someone called in to report that their trailer home had been dented on July 7th.
8:33 p.m. A woman who fell asleep while reading a book thought she heard heavy breathing.
9:53 a.m. Someone with an acute sense of smell caught a waft of an electrical fire.
1:57 p.m. A sign at a school on Fairmount Road was vandalized.
3:09 p.m. A 35-year old man was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center after he shot a nail through his arm.
5:59 p.m. A woman called in to report that her car had been stolen. It turned out that her husband had drove the vehicle to work.
6:01 p.m. A laptop and a GPS device were stolen from a residence on Conrad Drive.
7:06 p.m. A 15-year old boy who fled on foot after he pushed his mother was caught and taken to the juvenile detention center.
7:09 p.m. Someone called in to report that they thought the occupants of a green hatch-back were drinking and driving near Woodland Park. The suspicion was confirmed when the caller witnessed the occupants chugging the rest of a bottle of vodka, which they then threw from the moving vehicle.
The departments responded to 189 calls for service.

I haven’t said so lately, so I’m saying so now. If anyone in charge of such things ever gets the idea that the Police Blotter is not worth the effort for any reason, they will be very wrong. This is the best-written police blotter I’ve ever seen. Its author is clever, funny and yet respectful of those involved. In a world of troubles and woes, a smile or even a guffaw can make a day worthwhile. The Police Blotter is why I am an email subscriber to the Beacon, and it is what keeps me coming back.
