Bruce Guthrie is again hosting this evening’s film lecture and screening. A history teacher at Flathead High, Guthrie teaches an American culture course that features film history from the early 1900’s to the 1960’s. His presentation preceding the film brings to the viewers interesting insights about the production and its actors.
Roman Holiday was the first American film made entirely in Italy. This became the legendary film debut of Audrey Hepburn. A low budget movie starring an unknown actress and filmed in black and white, Paramount Studios had low expectations; but it was nominated for ten Academy Awards and it won three, including “Best Actress” for Hepburn. Gregory Peck plays opposite her in this classic romantic comedy, Italian style.
