Negligent Homicide Sentencing

Whitefish Teen Sentenced for Traffic Death

By AP News, 7-12-08

A Whitefish teenager convicted of negligent homicide for a 2007 traffic death has been placed on probation until he is 25.

A judge Friday sentenced 16-year-old Phillip J. Wisnewski as a juvenile, but imposed a parallel sentence applicable if he violates terms of his probation when he's an adult. Wisnewski was sentenced to 10 years of supervision by the state Corrections Department, a term largely suspended. He must participate in a program for crime victims and perpetrators.

Wisnewski and friends were heading home from a rodeo last July when the vehicle he drove without a license collided with a vehicle transporting 22-year-old Sara J. Carter of Columbia Falls. She was injured fatally. [End of article]

I say an eye for an eye, he killed someone, so he should be killed.  It’s that simple.  Oh well, one less person to deal with.  Sing it with me!  Another one bites the dust.  Another one bites the dust.  And another one gone, and another one gone, another one bites the dust.  Yea, their gonna get you too, another one bites the dust.

though i do beleave the young man deserve a more harsh sentence, i dont beleave the death penalty is warnted, it does take me by suprise that he got a ten year suspended sentance, would the sentance be the same for anyone else that commited this crime no matter what their color is or financial status is as well as the politiacal conection?
any time there is a sentance like this i question the sentanceing, just to get the blood flowing,it is a sad painful thing for both sides and not to be taken lightly, i feel for both families.

I think the death penalty should be warranted for any crime, whether it be littering, or killing, rape, or theft.  Granted we would have to redo the laws, but it should be basic common knowledge that if you do something illegal, your gonna die.  After a few years of killing people that are breaking laws, i bet society would be a lot healthier.  I mean if you knew that if you could be killed if you litter, would you even litter?  No, just act like the adults you say you are.
