The Minervois (min-er-vwa) Tradition is made from 100-plus-year-old Carignan vines, with smaller amounts of Syrah and Grenache. The 2007 vintage in southern France is a virtual treasure-trove of complex, satisfying red wine at affordable prices. At under $15, the D’Oupia Minervois is a wine value “no-brainer” and should be purchased by the case for holiday entertaining. It will also gain complexity and nuance over the next two to three years.

Friday's, Nov. 20, lead story on The Washington Post Web site featured a slide show show shot in Missoula by Post photographer Linda Davidson. The images from "Recession Legacy: Returning home after college" are of Missoula native Melissa Meyer who, after graduating Suma Cum Laude from George Washington University, moved home to live with her parents. The images are nice and the story is the usual one about taking time after college to figure things out and not being able to find a job during the recession even though one has a quality resume.

BOZEMAN – One-time federal stimulus money is going to leave a big hole in education budgets when it expires, according to state university presidents who said tuition hikes may be needed to make up the difference.

University of Montana President George Dennison and outgoing Montana State University President Geoff Gamble sketched out preliminary plans for how the schools will deal with the loss of $17.6 million in one-time federal stimulus money for the 2010 and 2011 budgets.

Energy. It is the lifeblood of the American economy. For this reason, it is no surprise that energy policy discussions receive a great deal of attention. Done wrong, energy policy can significantly harm the economy. That is a real concern as the U.S. Congress and individual states debate legislation that aims to address climate change and potentially overhaul our country's energy system. Montana is blessed with abundant natural resources that help fuel the economy. As a provider of North American energy sources, Montana contributes to our nation's energy security. Increasing our energy security should be a…

Last week, Dan Testa posted the “Stain” ad that is running against Congressman Denny Rehberg and several of his Republican colleagues, criticizing the lawmakers for voting against the American Clean Energy and Security Act. Yesterday, Rehberg sent out an opinion piece to the state’s media, charging that the “ad distorts the truth.” Here it is: You’ve probably seen the slick, negative ads on TV, claiming that I voted against the “American Clean Energy and Security Act” because of contributions from “big oil and energy interests.” These accusations are dishonest and…
